Special Session SS09

High-Speed Electrical Machines and Its Drive Systems

Introduction:

High-speed electric machines and their drive systems are core enabling technologies in high-end equipment such as aerospace, new energy vehicles, and flywheel energy storage. With the rapid development of high-frequency power devices, high-performance materials, and digital control technologies, electric machine systems are evolving toward higher rotational speeds, higher power density, and higher reliability. However, issues such as high-frequency losses, rotor dynamics and mechanical strength, thermal management, and multi-physics coupling are becoming increasingly prominent. Achieving full-speed-range high-precision control, stable deep field-weakening operation, and high-reliability fault-tolerant control remains a formidable challenge.
This special session aims to bring together experts and scholars from universities, research institutes, and industry, focusing on high-speed machine design and analysis and advanced control strategies, to exchange the latest technological advances and promote interdisciplinary integration across electrical, mechanical, materials, and control disciplines. Its significance lies in overcoming common bottlenecks in efficiency, reliability, lifetime, and cost, and supporting the development of transportation electrification, energy storage equipment, and high-end manufacturing toward lightweight, high-efficiency, and intelligent solutions. Experts and scholars in relevant fields are cordially invited to submit manuscripts.
The topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
1. High-speed motor design and analysis;
2. High-frequency loss modeling and detailed analysis;
3. Rotor dynamics and mechanical strength analysis;
4. Efficient cooling design and thermal management;
5. Temperature field prediction and heat analysis;
6. Precision drive control;
7. High-reliability fault-tolerant control;
8. Application of advanced materials in high-speed motor systems.
