Special Session SS04

Reliability Assessment and State Monitoring of Power Converters

Introduction:

The power converter is a core component for electrical energy conversion and control, which is widely used in distributed power generation, new energy grid connection, electric vehicles and other fields, and the reliability of the power converter is directly related to the safety and stability of power systems. At present, the reliability assessment and condition monitoring of power converters are still faced with many challenges: the multi-field changes and failure mechanisms of power converters in extreme service environments (such as oceans, deserts, plateaus, etc.) are unclear; the fault diagnosis accuracy of power converters under complex operating conditions is insufficient; and the full-life-cycle reliability assessment model of power converters is lacking. To improve the accuracy of reliability assessment and condition monitoring of power converters, methods such as accelerated aging tests, multi-physics field modeling, and failure mechanism analysis are adopted to clarify the root causes of failure. Meanwhile, emerging technologies including advanced sensing, digital twin, and packaging optimization are applied to enhance the condition monitoring capability of power converters. In addition, emerging research methods such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data-driven approaches have attracted extensive attention in the field of power converter reliability assessment. This Special Session aims to focus on the cutting-edge research and technological innovations in failure mechanism analysis, reliability assessment, and condition monitoring of power converters. Topics include, but are not limited to:
1. Si-based, SiC-based and GaN-based power device modeling;
2. Accelerated aging testing and failure mechanism analysis;
3. Emerging sensing and system integration;
4. High-reliability design with new materials and structures;
5. Digital twin and field-circuit coupled simulation technology;
6. AI-based reliability assessment methods;
7. Failure analysis and control of power converters;
8. Condition monitoring and fault diagnosis of power converters
